Great gift idea? / Hawaiian greetings

Call me old-fashioned, but is this really a “great gift idea”?

What does the Voodoo knife block from Italy say about us? Is it funny? Is it horrific? Is it just plain ugly? All of the above, I suppose, but it’s also got an “edge” of its own – it’s mocking, however metaphorically, human life.

But then, human life is mocked regularly these days…destroyed in any number of video games, TV shows, movies, oh, and that old standby - wars. You’d think we’d have saturated the market with ways of killing people…but no, we have to have MORE!

What pleasure could someone (bent minds excluded) possibly receive from stabbing knives into a plastic or chrome human form? How will little kids view this contraption when Mum/Dad shoves a paring knife through the head or the heart? Could someone please explain? Or am I simply taking life too seriously…?

I hope no one puts one of these under the Christmas tree...
